CAMPING AT DE GREY

Campsites at De Grey are stunning and will be open for booking soon!  Not only are they steeped in history being on the oldest pastoral lease in the Pilbara, the site of the first Port in the Pilbara and on Ngarla country, they are also teeming with wildlife and bordering the 80 Mile Beach Marine Park conservation area!

unfortunately de grey camping is closed for the wet season. apologies for any inconvenience

WILDLIFE SPOTTING
FOSSICKING

Flatback turtles are known to nest on De Grey Beaches from October to April, a magic experience to see eggs being laid or hatchlings making their way across the beach!

Have you ever seen dolphins and whales in their natural habitat, spotted a White – bellied sea-eagle or a Rainbow bee-eater?

The Pilbara Coast hosts unique ecosystems of spinifex grasslands, gentle sand dunes and small pockets of mangroves.

Large inter tidal zones create further opportunities to explore -  a variety of crustaceans and creatures in shells can be found scampering across the sand and mud flats, not to mention the odd ship wreck!

Explore the vegetation, bird watch or sit on the sand dunes with binoculars and watch the sea come to life!

The Condon Campsite includes remains of the first port settled in the Pilbara.

In the 1880's Condon was a small town of some 200 people. Cast your eyes to the ocean and imagine the ships of yesterday year coming in to cart wool away.

Today the ruins of the original jetty and bond store remain. A perfect opportunity to explore and imagine what it was like for the original settlers.

Fossicking is welcome but please leave what you find for the next visitors to appreciate - Condon is a significant place and a living museum!

A unique place to kayak, with endless remote ocean and estuaries to explore, but be aware of big - rapidly changing tides, sharks and  salt water crocodiles!

FISHING

The Pilbara Coast is renowned for its excellent fishing. Fishing at De Grey though is next level!  Its remote, private and the bays and estuaries are abundant with an array of seafood!

Salmon, Barramundi, Mangrove Jack and fresh Mud Crabs to name a few. With our visitor numbers strictly limited our fish stock never go low!
